Gallery Exhibit: Jen Kuzdas

Gallery Exhibit: Jen Kuzdas In-Person

Back in the 1900’s, in a far away place called Little Rock, Arkansas, Jen joined this world.  When she was only one year old, her family moved to Japan for her father’s job in the Air Force.  That was the start of many moves to exotic places like Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana.  Her family always managed to return to Indiana because of family in Valpo.

Jen’s first love of photography took root at Valparaiso High School through several photography classes with Mr. Anderson.  She also did photography all five years she was in 4-H in Porter County.  She progressed from her 35 mm camera where she developed her own film at school to the first digital cameras (which were terrible) and now to her beloved Canon Rebel T3i.

After exchanging her easy last name of “Brown” for the often misspelled and mispronounced “Kuzdas”, she and her husband Larry moved to Rolling Prairie in 2004 and later had two children, Logan and Kayla.  Living in such a beautiful area helped Jen’s love of photography grow.  She has been able to weave her interests together with her photography.  Although her main schooling was Business Administration and graphic design, on the side she has taught scrapbooking and cardmaking.  She has even volunteered her photo services to the NPUSC, La Porte Master Gardeners and other volunteer organizations she’s worked with.

Her main focus is on nature.  She loves a good flower photo.  And she can often be found stalking butterflies, dragonflies, birds, insects and animals including her dog and three cats.  This past Christmas she got a new macro lens which has been a game changer.  She’s getting beautiful close up shots she could never have taken before.

In 2017, Jen was recognized for winning “Best Overall Show” for the Porter County Master Gardener Show’s photography contest.  They had the photo professionally framed and is lovingly hung in her home.  She was humbled when asked to have her work showcased at her favorite library and she hopes you enjoy her work as much as she loves sharing it.
